Jetpack.io helps developers focus on applications instead of infrastructure.
Jetpack.io is a startup founded by Daniel Loreto, a former Google, Airbnb, and Twitter engineer. Loreto noticed that his developer team at his last job running engineering at Virta Health had to work hard deploying infrastructure, which distracted them from their primary job of building applications. He launched Jetpack.io to solve this infrastructure deployment problem for development teams with limited resources.
Jetpack.io treats infrastructure as a product and aims to make it self-serve and easy to use. To reduce the complexity of using the Nix open-source project for deploying development environments, Loreto built Devbox, an open-source development environment tool. Devbox Cloud moves the background to the cloud, allowing easy access to Nix without learning the Nix language.
Jetpack.io recently announced the availability of Devbox Cloud in beta, along with a previously unannounced $10 million seed investment round co-led by Coatue and GV. Launchpad, a tool to simplify Kubernetes deployment, has already been released and will eventually get a cloud version.
Loreto plans to keep the company lean and disciplined, allowing customers to lead the way in expansion. He aims to build an inclusive workplace and diversely grow the company from the beginning, being an immigrant founder from Venezuela.
