DoorDash’s Innovative “Drinks with DoubleDash” Feature
DoorDash has launched a new feature, “Drinks with DoubleDash,” allowing customers to order food from one location and drinks from another in a single order without additional delivery fees or order minimums. This feature builds upon DoorDash’s existing DoubleDash service, which enables shopping across multiple stores and categories in one order. After selecting a meal from a restaurant, customers can browse alcohol options from nearby liquor, convenience, or grocery stores, adding their choices to the cart for a combined checkout.
The introduction of “Drinks with DoubleDash” follows DoorDash’s recent implementation of dual ID verification for alcohol orders, requiring delivery personnel to scan customers’ IDs with the DoorDash app before completing alcohol deliveries. This new verification process enhances security and compliance with alcohol delivery regulations.
Since initiating alcohol deliveries last year, DoorDash has significantly expanded its alcohol store presence on the platform, reporting a 130% growth in this category. This expansion positions DoorDash competitively against rivals like Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Instacart, which also offer alcohol delivery in permitted markets.
